| [Time Skip.] All good things come to an end one day. Summer's haze was ending and the edges of autumn crept in on the evening air. Ceviche stood and look over the horizon, the leaves only just starting to hue a pale yellow-green. He thought about his time here in the valley, about his friends and adopted family... How long had it been? How long had he let himself go, and just allowed these feelings of ease wash over him? He thought back about... Agahi. He missed him dearly every day. He'd died nearly 3 years ago, and the pain of loss had dulled with time but the holes left behind never really heal. "I think it's time." He looked over his shoulder back towards the territory. It hurt to leave but, there was nothing left for him here anymore. Once it was vibrant and full of life, but the valley now was just a shell of what it had been. The mountains were like walls closing in, letting the echoes of loneliness just bounce around that much louder in his head. He'd let the memories of Ceara and Thane's smiles keep him warm, and everything the pack taught him he'd carry to his grave. He thought back on Brume and Zwei's kindness... Thane was old enough to get along on their own now. If nothing else, the others could help him out. Ceviche had visited Agahi's resting place earlier in the day. That place near the lake that would make you feel warm like his spirit was curled up next to you. He'd left him some dandelions and prayers. Now standing on the precipice, a haze of fog was creeping in and with a heavy heart, he let it carry him off westward- towards new opportunity and hopefully new adventures. The hardest part of any story is finding an ending, so he wouldn't let his journeys end. He was a wanderer in his heart, and tomorrow was as good a destination as any. Perhaps he'd return to this sheltered wood one day but, for now, he'd return to his journey. He passed through the trees where he'd first met Jackal... where he'd met Ceara and Agahi... So many memories clung to his mind, his resolve wavering for a moment before it redoubled. They'd be fine. Zyro would take care of everyone. "Thank you for everything, and... goodbye, Graywood." And so, the lone wanderer took the first of many steps towards the future and welcomed the winds of change. ... |
