Little Plateau
Location: East     Hazard: High     Size: Small

Deep in the clutches of Mount Jaar a winding, and slightly hazardous, path leads up to a small area of flat land. The ground is mostly hardened stone, but some patches of dirt exist, giving way to outcroppings of grasses and single thorn tree. A large, flat boulder leans up against a wall of stone with a bit of lichen hanging in it's entrance, the space is small but big enough to accommodate a single canine.

Little Plateau (Mount Jaar) Empty Re: Little Plateau (Mount Jaar)

Post by Falconette Fri Dec 02, 2016 10:36 pm

The day was winding down with the sun slowly making its descent to the horizon. Unna followed a path winding up to a small area of flat land within Mount Jaar. Her striking amber orbs took in the surroundings of fading hues. The trees were shed leaves, the ground grew colder, and due to the rocky terrain, everything seemed so much rougher and wild up there.

Naviunna sat atop the rock with flattened ears. She had been disturbed by a vision she had the night before (dream). She inhaled deeply, closing her eyes to recall the sleeping memory... Darkness surrounded her as if she could not see. She heard strange howling and whining before a bright light blinded her within the dream. Suddenly, she was at a river with three strange canines. They were poised aggressively, snarling and foaming at the mouth. In real time, Naviunna stood and began backing away subconsciously while her mind continued racing. One of the three wolves leaped over the water, and when it landed, the water fell into the earth creating a canyon. The canyon was so deep and Naviunna was looking down into the darkness. She spun around to be nose to nose with the teeth-barring canine. She still could not make out definite features. Even it's eye color was dull.

The ivory female ripped her eyelids open and her maw was parted slightly. She licked her dry lips, her eyes observing she was now seated in the entrance of a small den. She looked up at the flat boulder that leaned against the wall of stone, her amber eyes traveling further upward to the bit of lichen hanging there. Naviunna patted her tail against the ground, licking her nose uncertainly. She wanted to know what her dreams meant, but she didn't want others to say she was crazy and chase her off. She hadn't known any of her wolf mates to be that way though she was paranoid anyway. She looked into the evening sky with wide, curious eyes and an open, panting mouth.

Little Plateau (Mount Jaar) 14cwtgw
Tatsu || Female || 3 months || Newblood/Pup

"A-Are you alright?" A wet nose nudged the pale female, warm golden-brown orbs shifting upwards to meet her more striking orange ones. Was she alright? What had she seen? Was it danger? Closing her eyes for a moment, Tatsu would sink her dark muzzle in the female's thick ivory pelt, her distinctive, calming aroma entering the pup's nostrils in an instant. "Why are you scared?" An inquiry slipped out of blackened lips, signaling the pup to glare up at the older female with a tilted head and a confused expression. She couldn't really understand why Unna was upset, nor why her ears were flat against her head. She hadn't seen many scared wolves throughout her lifetime and the way her friend reacted had caused quite an omelette in the pup's head.

Seating down, the earthy-colored pup broke eye contact with the female as her left back leg began to ache, a burning sensation traveling through every muscle and bone connected to that leg. A light whine escaped her lips, youthful eyes gazing blankly at the rocky terrain she was seated on. In all truth the pain irked her to no end, it always seemed to slow her down and limit her abilities. It worsened her life in every aspect, it was holding her down with iron chains. "Please, do something... It hurts..." Tatsu whined, tone low in an attempt to mask the pain. Inhaling sharply, the pup would nestle closer to the female's side, eyes half-opened and lowered on the cold epiphany of the ground. What was going to happen next? How would her newfound companion be able to help? Would she be able to help stop the pain at all? Or would it just keep on fogging the youth's mind? All this only managed to scare the pup further, anxiety taking over her and sending a cold shiver down her spine. She was quaking now, frame glued against Unna's flank.

Little Plateau (Mount Jaar) Empty Re: Little Plateau (Mount Jaar)

Post by Falconette Thu Dec 08, 2016 2:44 pm

"My goodness," Naviunna was startled, lifting her right paw off the ground and balled it in front of her chest. Her nose stuck itself outside to inhale the wind blowing over the entrance of the small den. "It wasn't a pleasant dream," she paused before adding the lie: "Though I was nearly asleep." The white she-wolf sighed and her lips turned down momentarily. "How long have you been around these parts? Are you hur-" Before she could finish her statement, the pup was whining about pain in her leg. Unna stood very quickly and fear flushed her features. She was not much a medical smart, aside from cobwebs and poppy seeds. 'Oh! Poppies,' she thought silently though her eyes widened at the thought. She whipped her tail behind her, swinging it down low to dust the ground underneath. "How were you able to make it all the way here with your leg in that much pain?" She asked, rhetorically, rolling her eyes. Her expression quickly morphed into worry as she stood outside the den, the pebbly path rested on the edge of the cliff side. "There is a camp further into the woods, and we need to locate something herbal to treat your pain." Her gaze narrowed while her mind drifted to thought. Poppy flowers grow in dry and warm climates and unfortunately the time of year wouldn't allow for much bloom to remain. She clicked her tongue nervously against the roof of her mouth, pushing her ears forward to listen to the pup again, simultaneously wondering what other plant could help ease the pain. "Can you walk or do I need to carry you?" Hopefully, Unna wouldn't regret asking that question but she gave a gentle smile to reassure the pup she wanted to help.

Little Plateau (Mount Jaar) Empty Re: Little Plateau (Mount Jaar)

Post by Delsin & Gaho Thu Dec 08, 2016 10:24 pm

Ment.

fINALLY managed to find the time to post. Have fun with this awkward bab.
Rocks clattered down the mountain trail as a duo of canids slowly made their way toward the plateau. In the lead was a young male, young in spirits though, not age; a mix of grey and brown splashed against a pale white made up his appearance. He carried a lean and slender figure, and despite a short stature his legs were long and thin. Kasper was the type of wolf built for running and chasing, suiting the role for hunting very well. His jaws hung wide open, tongue lolling out from the side of his mouth in an expression of mingled joy and exhaustion.
A break from the monotony of the den had been a much needed experience for the both of them, even though technically they weren't supposed to have left. Kasper wouldn't say a word about it, and he was sure his mother wouldn't either, so what Delsin didn't know wouldn't hurt him.
The she-wolf in question was padding alongside her son, her gait staggering and wobbly. Her pelt, once a illustrious blend are charcoal greys, was now dull and somewhat matted. Unlike the male's expression her's was twisted into one of pain and fatigue. Though she'd practically begged to come with him Kasper was beginning to wonder if he should've said no..
"The den shouldn't be much farther now!" he offered, slowing his pace so as to match her own. Mimiteh gave no response other than a huff. She was too proud to admit how much pain she was in, even if it could clearly be seen.
As they finally reached the final steps before the flat landscape of the plateau the tri-colored wolf halted as the sound of voices greeted him. His body went completely rigid and his yellow eyes widened. Strangers at the den? How?
Without Delsin here to help, and Mimiteh too weak to put up a fight Kasper quickly began to dread the worst. He would have refused to go any further if the charcoal elder hadn't been panting with exhaustion behind him; he knew she needed to rest. Steeling his nerves the canine continued along the path, hopping up the final stretch to the denning area. Maybe if he were lucky it would just be his brother with some random female he'd met while he was out. Kasper hoped that was all it would be.
Instead, as he came around the curving path that lead to the cave, he found himself staring at two unfamiliar canines. One pale colored she-wolf, and a not-so-pale colored pup; at the sight of the youngling the male physically calmed down a bit. He could've encountered worse after all.
For a moment Kasper lost his voice and merely stood gawking at the two lasses. The tension of social interaction gripped him with fear until he swallowed the feeling and managed to speak. "Uh.." ..Yeah.

Little Plateau (Mount Jaar) Empty Re: Little Plateau (Mount Jaar)

Post by Johannes Thu Dec 08, 2016 11:50 pm

speech // actions // thoughts
While he enjoyed much of Greywood's territory, Mount Jaar had always put Johannes on edge. Not just because there were literal cliffs everywhere, but also because it just had that feeling to it. Johannes wasn't a wolf easily disturbed, but there was something about Mount Jaar, something sinister, that made him hate coming there. He couldn't quiet put his paw on it, but he imagined it probably had something to do with the mountain lions that called the steep slopes home and the near constant risk of plummeting to one's early demise.

Of course, Johannes tried not to dwell on that thought as he carefully made his way along the path. Each step was taken with a precision the brunt didn't know he possessed. Balance and agility were not skills Johannes claimed to have, which made him a little paranoid as he went. He was having wonderful luck not tripping thus far, but if he knew anything about his own body, it was that such luck was likely short to last if he got confident.

The brunt paused at a spot where the path looked wide enough. He wanted to get out of here, but with winter approaching he could not afford to shirk his responsibilities. "Just gotta get to the end of the path, then I can turn around and head back." He told himself with a resolute nod. It couldn't be far now, maybe only a few minutes more walk. Although, at his rate it might be a little longer.

It was at this point that an unfamiliar scent reached his nose. Johannes tilted his head skyward, inhaling more, and frowned. He had mostly tuned out the scents of his pack mates -as they filled the entire territory- but new smells had entered the mix. Johannes was immediately back on alert, and he swiveled his great big head to try and locate the source.

It was coming from up the path, and upon further scrutiny, Johannes realized some of the pack's scents were fresher around here, too. Were some of the others around? And if so, who were the strangers with them? A blend of curiosity and suspicion fueling his steps, Johannes abandoned his rest to continue on.

His movements were quicker now, and it must have been some strange act from above that he did not trip. But Johannes made it to the end of the path in one piece, where the scents were strongest, and was met with a most peculiar sight.

He immediately recognized Naviunna the mage, but he did not, however, recognize the two other wolves with her. One was a pup with sandy fur huddled against the mage, and the other was slim, with a pelt made of jumbled colors and bright eyes. Johannes' body told him to go into defense mode, but he did not get any sense of ill will from either of these wolves. The brunt only approached slowly, his curiosity clear on his features.

"What's this?" He asked the group, tone more inquisitive than anything else.

Little Plateau (Mount Jaar) Empty Re: Little Plateau (Mount Jaar)

Post by Tatsu Fri Dec 09, 2016 2:15 pm

Tatsu
Tatsu listened intently to what the pale female had to say, warm eyes shifting back at the ivory wolf. Great interest was shown from her part to help the pup, something which Tatsu appreciated greatly, since the ones who truly cared for her were now long gone after the storm flooded the lands of Graywood. The mention of a camp brought hope to the pup's eyes only forcing them to widen, a distinctive shine mingled in them. "...I think I'm gonna be fine. T-thank you..." Tatsu started, tripping over her words on the end of her sentence before lifting herself up in a slow manner. It was true, her leg did pain her - and quite badly if she were to be honest - but the last thing she wanted was to be a burden on Unna's shoulders.

The sound of paw steps and branches cracking moments after the youngster finished her sentence, made her flinch, bronze eyes flooding with fear. Flinching her ears nervously she began inspecting the area to only spot a darkish black and brown male as soon as he spoke, a puzzled "Uh.." escaping his lips in an instant. Upon closer inspection he did seem confused himself, golden eyes scanning the terrain in a bit of a sock. Tatsu couldn't really understand why the male acted the way he did, he seemed confused and surprised at the same time, but he didn't seem to act aggressively - something which made the pup relax slightly. A curious expression plastered itself on her visage, glistening orbs narrowing on the male. "Who are you..?" The pup chirped taking a couple of steps forth, her insecurity now being clouded by curiosity. Who this male was she did not know nor did she know what he was doing here. Was this his den and territory? Did her friend intrude in his land?

"What's this?" Another voice made its arrival shortly after the dark male did. This time it was an earthy-colored brute - colossal in size if she may add. He seemed bewildered by the whole situation, his head was held casually as he spoke, tone inquisitive. Surprisingly Tatsu remained on place, head tilting in curiosity as the new male made his appearance. Brown, agouti and gray decorated his cloak, warm eyes complementing his friendly face. He surely wasn't here to hurt anyone... was he? "H-hi..." The pup mumbled quietly pushing her frame forward, a limp mingled in her gait. Lowering her stance she'd approach the towering male timidly, head hanging low and eyes fixed on his paws. She'd sniff him, inhaling his aroma, the scent of pine flooding the confines of her nose.

Little Plateau (Mount Jaar) Empty Re: Little Plateau (Mount Jaar)

Post by Delsin & Gaho Sat Dec 17, 2016 5:02 pm

Ment. @Tatsu

oops, meant to post this a while ago ;u;
Before Kasper received any sort of answer from the mother and her pup a third, or in this case fifth, wolf appeared on the scene. He was a colossal brute, positively giant, with fur an even mix of browns and greys. His question hung in the air like heavy mist, "What's this?", in which only the pup dared to respond with a meek sounding 'hello'.
Surprisingly enough the loner was standing his ground, refusing the budge from the spot and letting these strangers take over their den. Well... more like fear had stiffened his legs and prevented him from backing away, as the brute so wanted to do, but it was as close to a show of bravery as Kasper would show. His bright eyes shifted between the male and female, unease glittering in his eyes though he was trying desperately to hide it. How Delsin always managed to stay cool in these kind of situations was beyond him.
"Um, you're... this is.." An explanation tumbled from his maw before he could think of what to say. The loner immediately silenced himself, steeling his eyes and forcing the wavering tone from his voice. Appearing like a weak fool wouldn't help the situation in the slightest, in fact it would only make things worse. He needed to act strong and capable, even if he wouldn't be able to back up his words with action. Hopefully the strangers would buy the act.
Kasper took a deep breath, squaring his shoulders, steeling his gaze, and lifting his tail so that it was held horizontally to his body just as Mimiteh had done anytime he and Delsin got in trouble as pups. The light touch of his mother's nose against his flank gave him a burst of reassurance. By then the she-wolf had caught up to her son and stood just behind him. Her figure would be obvious to the strange male, but not to the female and pup in the den, as the curve of the path would block their view. The charcoal colored lass stood erect, golden eyes assessing the situation calmly, neither aggression nor friendliness was clear in her stance.
"This place is our den, and you're sort of butting in on our claim. Rocks don't hold onto scent as well as other things do, so it's understandable that you'd mistaken this area as empty, but I'd greatly appreciate it if you took your family elsewhere,"
Yellow eyes flickered back and forth as the brute addressed both the lad and lass simultaneously. Kasper successfully kept a bold tone to his voice, though he remain polite nonetheless; being assertive didn't have to mean being rude after all, and perhaps the respectable tactic would lessen the chance of a standoff developing.
